CHINESE NEW YEAR-SAN FRANCISCO, CA (3/3/07)

YEAR OF THE BOAR (PIG)-新年快乐 "Gong Xi Fa Cai"
Our second day in the city was just as fabulous as the first. After taking advantage of the free continental breakfast in the tiny lobby of the hotel we were staying in, we called a cab and it took us to China Town where we had a great time making our way through the masses of people at the street fair. Vendor after vendor giving away goodies! We had Chinese food for lunch at the Far East Restaurant. After lunch Ann-Marie and Michelle did some shopping while I "people watched" and took some photos.
Thanks to my friend, Michelle, we had fantastic seats for the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco, CA.

Michelle was able to score us VIP seats which put us front and center to watch the parade. It was my first time to the parade so what a treat it was! The parade lasted for nearly 2 hours and what a great performance. Definitely a first-rate event!

After the parade was over, we walked up the street to Lefty O'Doul's for a GREAT dinner at the recommendation of Ann-Marie's dad and mom who attended the parade with us. Ann-Marie's father had first hand knowledge of Lefty O'Doul and really made our dinner that much more entertaining with his stories of the past. This restaurant is rich in baseball history and the food was fabulous at a price that couldn't be beat. The guy at the piano took requests and was great entertainment!

Who is Lefty O'Doul?
Francis “Lefty” O’Doul was born here in San Francisco. He is considered one of the New York Giants most colorful and popular personalities. Whole story
