What spectacular weather for this time of year! We got so lucky! Warm, clear and sunny! My friends Michelle and Ann-Marie and I decided to leave a day early to go into San Francisco to check out the sites before taking in the festivities surrounding the Chinese New Year celebration. Our first stop was the Marin Headlands. We spent quite a bit of time here enjoying the view and snapping pictures of the bay, the bridge and early spring flowers.Did You Know?
The Golden Gate Bridge’s two towers rise 746 feet, making them 191 feet taller than the Washington Monument, linking the Presidio of San Francisco to the Marin Headlands.
We drove up and looked out over Hawk Hill and Battery 129. We then made our way across the Golden Gate Bridge into the Presido where we hurried to spend some time in the San Francisco Botanical Gardens before the sun set. After leaving the gardens we went to check in to our hotel in the Presido and then set out on foot to find a restaurant for dinner. We settled on an Italian restaurant at the recommendation of a shop owner we spoke to. Excellent choice. Food was excellent and the service was fabulous. A great ending to a wonderful day in the city.
